Galway Bay fm newsroom - There are calls for additional car parking spaces to be made available at Oranmore train station.
The issue was raised by Councillor Liam Carroll at a meeting of the Athenry/Oranmore Municipal District this week.
The Fine Gael councillor says while there are just over 100 spaces available at the station, up to 150 cars are parked there during week days - with some parked on cycle lanes.
The county's Acting Director of Services Michael Owens says in order to provide additional car parking facilities at the station, the council must acquire more land.
Councillor Carroll says it needs to be done.
