Call for public input into development of Galway docks

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The public should have an input into the development of Galway Docks.

That's according to Galway People Before Profit, which objects to a current €100 million plan to redevelop 'Bonham Dock' as a major office and retail space.

The project at the two-acre dock site - which formerly housed Topaz Oil - is being led by Galway developer Gerry Barrett.

People before Profit argues that unlike dockland developments in other areas, the proposed plan for Galway Docks does not include residential units.

Joe Loughnane of PBP Galway says the docks should be developed in a sustainable manner that serves the city.
