Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Galway Anti-Racism Network is calling for an immediate review into the two Direct Provision centres operating in Galway City.
The organisation claims there are long-standing issues over conditions at the Eglinton Centre in Salthill and the Great Western Centre at Eyre Square.
It's calling for the Government to employ an independent agency to investigate the operation of both centres and allegations of human rights violations.
Campaigners have long claimed that living conditions - including accomodation, food and access to amenities - are extremely lacking at centres nationwide.
GARN Spokesperson Joe Loughnane says the residents feel that their concerns are largely being ignored.
Mr Loughnane claims one man who was evicted from a centre in Galway following complaints was forced to seek assistance from a homeless charity.
He says greater transparency on the operation of all Direct Provision centres is needed.
