Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway TD is calling for greater investment in the Airbnb sector across Galway.
It follows the publication of a report which found the Airbnb community generated 64 million euro for local economies across the west since the end of 2016.
Airbnb allows property owners to privately rent out rooms or an entire property by directly connecting with people seeking accommodation.
Fine Gael Junior Minister Ciaran Cannon says the initiative has been very successful in attracting visitors to many areas previously passed over by tourists.

Minister Cannon believes further development of the sector would boost tourism across East Galway.
