Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway-Roscommon TD is calling for tougher action to tackle the 'scourge' of illegal dumping that is seriously affecting the landscape of the county.
Deputy Eugene Murphy says it's absolutely shameful to see huge quantities of rubbish dumped in parks, lay-bys and roadsides.
He says local Tidy Towns groups are doing great work in responding to littering problems but a much tougher response is needed from local authorities.
Deputy Murphy believes funding regularly announced for anti-littering campaigns is often spent on simply tidying up dumping black-spots.
