Galway Bay fm newsroom - A county councillor says Galway Airport in Carnmore should be considered for an air transport service to the Aran Islands.
Independent Councillor Jim Cuddy is raising the matter at a meeting of the county council which is getting underway around now.
Aer Arann says it will cease its PSO contract service from Na Minne airport in Inverin on December 6th.
Negotiations are continuing in relation to the service between Aer Arann, Senator Pádraig Ó Céidigh, who owns Na Minne airport, and the Department of the Gaeltacht.
There is a plan that Shannon Airport be used for the service if no resolution is reached by the deadline date of December 6th.
However Councillor Jim Cuddy says it makes sense to use Galway Airport in Carnmore if agreement is not reached regarding Na Minne airport. For more on this tune in to Galway Bay fm news on the hour...
