Call for County Council to show "stronger hand" against illegal dumpers

Galway Bay fm newsroom - There's a call for Galway County Council to show a "stronger hand" against illegal dumpers.

Councillor Tim Broderick says something has to be done to get a handle on the scourge that's affecting rural areas.

A meeting of Ballinasloe councillors this week heard a story of a man who had to pay out of his own pocket after a huge amount of rubbish was dumped on his land.

There was also focus on the fact that CCTV still cannot be used for prosecution due to GDPR.

Councillor Tim Broderick says some sort of fresh approach is needed.
