Call for action to stamp out littering at Spanish Arch

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A city councillor has suggested the use of sprinklers in a bid to disperse large crowds from gathering at the Spanish Arch at unsociable hours.

Councillor Eddie Hoare has made the proposal after large volumes of litter were left at the popular waterside amenity at the weekend.

The Fine Gael councillor says he received multiple representations from Claddagh residents who observed the crowds and the resulting litter.

It's understood additional bins had been placed at the site for the weekend and site visits were conducted by council workers.

Councillor Hoare told Galway Talks there was also issues with social distancing and those gathering in the area should bring their rubbish with them....
