Galway Bay fm newsroom - There are calls to install covert cameras in the Kelly's Grove and Poolboy areas of Ballinasloe following repeated incidents of illegal dumping.
The suggestion was raised at this month's meeting of Ballinasloe Municipal District where a delegation addressed councillors.
During the private meeting, concerned locals said the level of littering has now reached a critical point.
The group has highlighted its frustration after a major clean-up was carried out in the area in recent years.
County Cathaoirleach and Fianna Fail councillor Michael Connolly says he will bring proposals to install CCTV and other measures before the next meeting of the county Joint Policing Committee.
He says this kind of careless dumping must be wiped out.
