Galway Bay fm newsroom - The County Council is calling on the Department of the Environment to provide a grant for county householders that use wells or group water schemes if domestic charges are abolished.
The motion has been put forward by Loughrea area councillor Michael Fahy.
He says if water charges are abolished, people with a private water supply should be compensated by means of a special grant.
The local authority has agreed to make a submission to the Department of the Environment on the matter.
