Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway Fire Services had a busy night overnight with a number of gorse and bog fires across the county.
The largest gorse blaze broke out in Woodford, Portumna just after 5 last evening.

Two units of the fire brigade from Portumna and Scarriff in Clare fought the gorse blaze in Woodford for more than 7 hours before finally bringing it under control just after midnight.
Mountbellew fire brigade were alerted to a bog fire at Laught,(LOCKED) Moylough around 12.30 this morning and brought it under control within half an hour.
An hour later the same crew were called to a bog fire in Newbridge and battled the blaze for an hour and a half.
Meanwhile, Athenry fire brigade were called to a gorse fire at Derrylissane, Menlough around 1 o' clock this morning.
One unit of the brigade managed to get the fire under control within half an hour.
