Galway Bay fm newsroom - The British Ambassador to Ireland, Paul Johnston, begins his second day of engagements today as part of a visit to the city.
The two day visit aims to connect with businesses, researchers and city leaders across the culture, science and innovation sector, and identify opportunities for further partnership between UK and Irish regions.
The Ambassador's itinerary includes meetings with the Mayor of Galway, the Chief Executive of Galway City Council, Galway Chamber and the Presidents of both NUIG and GMIT.
The British Ambassador's visit follows the 2020 virtual launch of the report ‘Joining the Dots’ in Galway, with partners Galway Chamber and NUI Galway.
The report found that Galway/Mayo has world-class med tech and ICT clusters, as well as being a significant hub for the creative industries that can be linked with regions in the UK.
‘Joining the Dots’ is a British Embassy led initiative focused on promoting economic links and opportunities between regions of Ireland and the UK, identifying how cities, towns and regions, outside of capital cities, can collaborate to help resolve shared challenges.
