Galway Bay fm newsroom - The author of the multi-award-winning novel 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas', John Boyne is to read at this year's Cúirt festival in Galway
The author of 10 books in total John's latest book is set in a small village in Cork in the 1950s where an unmarried mother is publicly shamed and banished from the parish by a priest who has fathered two children.
It tracks the woman's child through to adulthood and to the marriage referendum in modern day Ireland.
Mr Boyne and fellow acclaimed author Kit de Waal will read at the Town Hall Theatre on Thursday April 27th at 8:30pm
Kit's debut novel novel 'My Name is Leon', a heartbreaking story of love and identity, is a Times and international bestseller, and was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award.
The 8-day literature event opens on April 23rd and takes place in venues across Galway city and county.
