Galway Bay fm newsroom - Boston Scientific Corporation is today announcing a new €100 million expansion of its operations at Ballybrit in the city.
The expansion is expected to create more than 300 jobs in the coming years.
It includes over 40,000 square feet of medical device manufacturing space that will be powered by renewable energy.
Boston Scientific was founded in 1979 and is headquartered in Massachusetts, USA.
The medical devices firm has a workforce of more than 6,500 people across its sites in Galway, Clonmel and Cork, making it the largest life sciences employer in Ireland
It employs 32,000 people worldwide.
James Lyons is Vice President of Operations at Boston Scientific and says the expansion reflects the important contributions of the workforce here in Galway and the strength of the broader business and local community in the west region.
