Boil water notice for Tiernee and Lettermore as cryptosporidium discovered

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Irish Water has issued a boil water notice for the Tiernee-Lettermore Public Water Supply.

The notice has been issued on the advice of the HSE following the detection of cryptosporidium.

The public water supply in Tír an Fhia/Leitir Mór serves a population of around 1200 people.

All customers on the supply are advised to boil all water for drinking, food preparation, brushing of teeth and making of ice until further notice.

Water can be used as normal for personal hygiene, bathing and flushing of toilets.

Irish Water and Galway County Council say they will continue to liaise with the HSE with a view to lifting the Boil Water Notice as soon as possible.
