Galway Bay fm newsroom - Lifeboat crews searching for a missing fisherman in Galway Bay have located a body near Renville in Oranmore.
The discovery was made in the past hour (12.30) by Galway RNLI crews assisted by the coastguard helicopter.
The lifeboat crew from Galway and the Aran Islands as well as inshore fishing boats and the coastguard helicopter have been involved in the search for a man missing from a boat since last night.
The alarm was raised when the fisherman, who had left the docks in the city around 3p.m to check lobster pots in Galway Bay, did not return.

His anchored boat was located in the bay but there was no-one on board.
It's not yet known if the body found near Renville this afternoon is that of the missing fisherman.
