Galway Bay fm newsroom - A bathing advisory noticed has been issued at Ballyloughane beach due to increased levels of bacteria in the water.
The City Council is urging the public not to swim at the popular East side amenity until water sampling results are returned.
In a statement posted on social media the local authority said "swimmers are advised not to swim due to increased levels of bacteria found in a sample of the bathing water taken on 9th August, likely due to recent heavy rainfall."
The City Council has confirmed that resampling was carried out at Ballyloughane yesterday, and the results will be received in the coming days, with further updates to be issued then.
