Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway city, Ballybane and Ballinasloe have all been described as 'Clean to European Norms' in the latest litter survey by Irish Business Against Litter.
Last year, Ballinasloe lost its 'Clean' status, but has managed to recover and win back the status this year.
The report by An Taisce says all the approach roads, residential area of St. Joseph's Place and Ballinasloe train station were top ranking sites.
However, the most heavily littered site in Ballinasloe was Main Street, which was not only described as littered but looks 'tired and neglected'.
In the city, the IBAL report finds that overall presentation and cleanliness is much improved on previous years.
Ballybane had a 'noticeable improvement' in this year's survey now deemed 'Clean to European Norms', however the village itself is still described as 'moderately littered.'
Kilkenny is the cleanest area in the country while Ballymun is the most littered.
