Galway Bay fm newsroom - Workers at Tesco in Ballinasloe have voted to join the ongoing national strike.
The Ballinasloe outlet is one of five Tesco stores in the city and county and the only one to have given an indication of intention to strike.
Strike action is already underway at 16 Tesco stores around the country, in a row over proposed contract changes for workers who were employed before 1996.
Mandate trade union claims the company has been pressurising staff.
Tesco's calling the strike "reckless" and has again urged the union to abandon its strike.
So far this week, workers in a further five stores – Ballinasloe, Carlow Town, Sandymount and Bloomfield in Dublin and Newbridge in Kildare have voted to join the strike.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Mandate's David Miskell says staff in the Ballinasloe store are disappointed with their employer.
