Ballinasloe native named Netwatch Galway Family Carer of the Year

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Ballinasloe's Louise Mac an tSaoi has been named Netwatch Galway Family Carer of the Year.

Louise cares for her son Liam, who has chronic lung disease, a serious metabolic disorder called PKU, autism and has had his left leg amputated.

12 year old Liam spent the first few years of his life in Crumlin Hospital with his mother by his side where he underwent multiple surgeries.

Louise, who sadly lost her husband Seán last year after a long illness, shared her story with our reporter Sarah Slevin:
