Galway Bay fm newsroom - Ballinasloe is one of the areas set to benefit from a 169 million euro fund to support ex-peat workers.

The Just Transition Fund territorial plan has been approved at EU level and it is planned to launch early in 2023.
It'll cover counties Laois, Longford, Roscommon, Offaly and Westmeath, along with Ballinasloe, and areas in Tipperary and Kildare.

The fund aims to support people who's traditional livelihood are negatively impacted by climate action policies.
