Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway member of a new group representing solid fuel merchants is calling for the Government to clampdown on the sale of black market coal.

Solid Fuel Merchants Ireland is claiming that coal worth €56m was illegally brought into the state from Northern Ireland last year.
A ban on smoky coal came into play last year, which stops the selling of traditional coals, however it's claimed there is no enforcement of the rules.

Peter Madden, owner of Peter Madden Fuels in Ballinasloe, told Sally-Anne Barrett it's having a huge impact on businesses.
