Average city rents in line with last year despite seasonal spike

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Average rents in Galway city are mainly in line with the same period last year, despite a seasonal spike over the past three months.

That's according to the latest report from the Residential Tenancies Board.

The standardised average rent in Galway city at the end of September was 1 thousand 177 euro.

This was a slight drop on the average rent for the same period last year, which stood at 1 thousand 181 euro.

However, rents in the city increased by almost a fifth between the end of June this year and the end of September, displaying a seasonal spike.

In the county, the average rent is up almost 3 per cent year on year.

Nationally, rents are now 7 percent higher than their Celtic Tiger peak.
