Over 200 delegates are to attend the All-Ireland Mammal Symposium being held at the ATU Galway campus today and tomorrow.
Scientists and practitioners from across academia, government, wildlife charities and consultancies will look at the conservation pressures on many wild mammals.
Dr Allan McDevitt, ATU lecturer in Natural Resources and the Environment, says the aim is to foster collaboration over the concerns around the long-term future of several native species in Ireland such as the red squirrel.
The event will feature more than 60 presentations in talk or poster form, covering every aspect of mammal conservation in Ireland, with every key group of species covered.
