ATU Galway is to be included in an initiative led by multinational firm Johnson and Johnson that encourages women in STEM.
WiSTEM2D (wee-stem-squared) aims to bridge the gender gap by supporting students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Design.
At present, Ireland has almost twice as many men in STEM fields than women - the widest disparity in the EU.
The WiSTEM2D initiative, established in 2016, is already in place at several universities nationwide, including the University of Galway.
