Galway Bay fm newsroom - Attendance figures were slightly down at the second day of this year's Galway racing festival, with tote figures down and bookmakers' takings up.
14,596 people entered the turnstiles at Ballybrit, just over 600 less than day two of the racing festival last year.
The crowd included this year's Galway Rose Orla McDaid, Galway hurler Ollie Canning, and RTE's Ryan Tubridy and Marty Morrissey.
Tote turnover was down from just over 776 thousand last year to 556 thousand 700 euro this year.
Bookmaker takings were over 864,100 euro, up slightly from last year’s record of over 854 thousand 900.
The feature race yesterday was the Colm Quinn BMW Mile Chase which was won by 'Salonstall' trained by Adrian McGuinness.
It's an evening meeting in Ballybrit today for Galway Plate day with the first race going to post at 5.10.
