Galway Bay fm newsroom - Over half a million euro in Arts Council funding has been awarded to 44 Galway artists.
The allocation totalling 560 thousand euro ranges in grant size from five to 20 thousand euro.
In total 530 artists from 27 counties are set receive grants through the Arts Council’s prestigious Bursary Award.
The allocations to Galway based artists cover a broad range of cultural activities.
In total 11 visual arts projects have been awarded the bursary, followed by seven musical projects and five initiatives based in young people and child education.
Five English literature and two Irish literature grants have been awarded.
Meanwhile, traditional arts, theatre, circus and dance projects are also being supported.
The Arts Council says this year’s enlarged bursary forms part of a suite of enhanced grants designed to support the sector through the COVID-19 pandemic.
