From Galway Bay FM newsroom- Arrabawn has issued a statement on the sale of the Arrabawn Dairies business in Kilconnell.
The sale to Aurivo is for the liquid milk sales book - but does not include the physical plant.
A vote was held in Nenagh last night - and an offer believed to be in the region of €8m was accepted.
Arrawbawn says it's looking at options for alternative use for the plant - and all sales employees will transfer with the business.
It adds subject to the sale going ahead, it's anticipated that processing at the plant will continue until summer 2023.
Arrabawn further says milk supply and upcoming liquid milk contracts will not be impacted.
It concludes that its priority is to support all employees and supplies during the transition.
Galway IFA National Council delegate, John Finn, told Sally Ann Barrett the situation is a serious shock for producers:
Meanwhile, speaking to Galway Talks, Local TD Claire Kerrane says the whole thing was extremely rushed.
And she's not impressed with a response from the Agriculture Minister on the matter.
