Armed support unit searches house in Newcastle in the city

The Garda armed support unit has searched a house in Newcastle in the city after reports of a firearm in the property

Local gardai received a call about a firearm in a property in the Upper Newcastle area and responded immediately.

Multiple garda units including armed gardai arrived at the accommodation and conducted searches.

After an extensive search, no weapon was found and gardai left the scene.
