Galway Bay fm newsroom - A proposal to build more than 100 homes on the west side of the city has been approved by the higher planning authority.
An Bord Pleanála has granted planning permission to Burkeway Homes Limited for the homes in Rahoon under Strategic Housing legislation.
The 101 homes in the townlands of Letteragh and Rahoon will be a mix of detached, semi-detached and terrace houses as well as apartments.
The project has been approved subject to 16 planning conditions.
The planning board has stipulated that a revised site layout plan must be submitted including all areas which have been taken-in-charge and those proposed to be taken-in-charge.
Also the revised plan must include pedestrian and cycle facilities to the south of the site.
All communal parking areas serving the apartments must provide electric vehicle charging points.
Also agreement must be reached with the planning authority in relation to the provision of social and affordable housing.
