Galway Bay fm newsroom - Apple is officially scrapping plans for a 850 million euro data centre in Athenry.
The project - which was set to create hundreds of jobs - has faced lengthy legal efforts in the Supreme Court to block it on environmental grounds.
The tech giant says delays in the approval process have forced it to make other plans - and it will not be able to move forward with the data centre in Athenry.
In a statement this morning, Apple says it's a disappointing decision, but it won't dampen the company's enthusiasm for future projects in Ireland.
