Appeals board gives go ahead to asphalt plant in Ardrahan

Galway Bay fm newsroom - John Madden & Sons Ltd has secured permission to develop an asphalt plant in Tonroe, Ardrahan.

The application had initially been refused by county planners in May last year.

The refusal was due to concerns including the limit aggregate stored as stockpiles on site and the requirement to import a maximum of 80 thousand tonnes per year of materials into the site from other quarries in the county.

An Bord Pleanala has overturned the county council's decision and has approved the project subject to 15 conditions. For more on this story tune in to Galway Bay fm news on the hour...
