Galway Bay fm newsroom - Plans to bring a large solar farm to the Tuam area can now proceed.
It comes as an appeal to An Bord Pleanála against the development has been withdrawn.
The project is led by Tuam Energy Park Ltd and would be located at Cloontoa, Rinkippeen, Cloonascragh, Barnacurragh and Ballykeaghra.
The plan secured permission from Galway County Council at the end of April subject to a list of 16 conditions.
One had stated the permission is for a period of 25 years from the commissioning of the solar array.
Another condition stated the permission is not to be construed as any form of consent or agreement to a connection to the national grid or to the routing or nature of any such connection.
The third party appeal was lodged in May with concerns including fears over the potential for increased flooding in land in the area at times of heavy rainfall due to the River Suileen having a shallow basin at certain locations.
Others concerns raised included the impact the development would have on the Tuam outer bypass and its proximity to the northern part of the proposed development.
The appeal was however withdrawn by the third party earlier this month, meaning the plan can now proceed.
