Galway Bay fm newsroom - An annual traffic survey for Galway city is currently underway.
The city council awarded the contract for the traffic survey to software company Innovative Data Solutions.
The Mullingar based company won the contract to carry out the city's annual traffic survey until 2020.
The traffic surveys include queue length, journey times and car occupancy.
The survey involves 12 hour manual classified turning count surveys from 7am to 7pm at a minimum of 25 junctions each year.
It also includes speed surveys and bi-directional counts on the four bridges crossing the river Corrib.
This year, count surveys have also been required at 43 additional junctions.
IDASO are currently compiling and analysing data before preparing a report on the city's traffic.
