An Post is hoping to sell three of its offices in County Galway - in Athenry, Loughrea and Tuam.
However, the Irish Examiner reports that post services will continue in these areas, and the buildings will be freed up for further town centre development and mixed occupancy.
Nationally, An Post is looking to sell 12 post offices at an estimated total of three million euro.
The other offices are located in Cork, Mayo, Tipperary and Roscommon.
According to An Post the sale 'will ensure continuity of trade in these locations while at the same time providing a significant development opportunity in each town'.
