An Bord Pleanala upholds refusal of housing development for older people in Gort

An Bord Pleanala has upheld a decision to refuse a housing development for older people in Gort.

The project, led by Mount Fuji Ltd, would have seen 62 units built at a site off Station road.

It’d involve the demolition of a ruined home known as “Flowervale” and other out-buildings.

But county planners rejected the project last year, finding it fell short of standards for a town centre development, as well as a residential development.

An Bord Pleanala has now upheld their decision, saying it shares the local authoritys view on the quality of the scheme, both in design and layout.
