Galway Bay fm newsroom - The air corps will attend the scene of a major blaze at the country's biggest forest near Oughterard this morning.
Fire fighters have brought two of three major fires in the Cloosh Valley forest under control overnight - but one blaze is still posing a threat.
During the night, fire breaks were put in place at Galway Wind Park at Doon East, where 2 turbines were at risk of destruction.
Over a quarter of the 4000 hectare plantation has been lost, and a number of properties in the Cloosh Valley area remain at risk.
The Air Corps has been drafted in to help with the operation, and is due to arrive at the scene at around 10.30 this morning.
Mark Carlin of Coillte says the public need to be aware of the risk posed by lighting fires.
