Galway Bay fm newsroom - Access to Eyre Square has been restricted after a reported stabbing incident took place last night.

The incident took place at around 10:20 last night.
A man in his 20’s received a number of apparent stab wounds and was taken to University Hospital Galway for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Another man in his 40’s was arrested and is currently being detained at Galway Garda Station.
A knife has been recovered and is subject to analysis.
Gardaí are investigating and the top of Eyre Square has been cordoned off for examination.
The restricted area runs from the playground to the former tourism office.
