Galway Bay fm newsroom - Ability West Galway has been awarded €200,000 in Government funding.
The grant allocation is part of a €20 million euro investment in disability services nationwide through the first tranche of the Disability Services Fund.
Announced as part of Budget 2021, the one-off grants are being provided to reform disability services, build the capacity of disability organisations and to improve the quality of life of those who rely on these services.
€140,000 will go towards staff development and training at Ability West Galway, while the remaining €60,000 will finance IT upgrades at the charity's centre in Salthill.
Ability West is dedicated to enabling people to realise their goals and ambitions and last year the charity provided supports to over 590 children and adults.
The funding has been announced by Minister of State for Disability and Galway East TD Anne Rabbitte.
