Galway Bay fm newsroom - A company owned by Abbeyknockmoy-based businessman Declan Ganley has failed to secure a major telecommunications contract in the United States.
Rivada Networks was bidding to secure contracts in individual states for a network for emergency services.Rival AT&T was awarded the contract for a national network for emergency services in the U.S called Firstnet.
Each state had the opportunity to opt out of the federal Firstnet scheme and build their own network.
Declan Ganley, who lives in Moyne, Abbeyknockmoy, convinced New Hampshire to 'opt out' and attempted to secure contracts in other states.
However, according to today's Irish Times, Mr. Ganley's bid to secure individual contracts was unsuccessful and as a result New Hampshire did a u-turn and decided to stay in the federal programme with AT&T.
It's understood the state accepted that Rivada's plan would have been a better option for New Hampshire but authorities couldn't risk being the only state not in the federal scheme.
