A thousand new homes built in Galway since January

CSO figures show just over a thousand new homes have been built in Galway city and county so far this year

It’s slightly more than the same period in 2022, with the majority of them in the county.

Nationally, over 22,000 new homes have been built in the first nine months of this year, a 9 percent increase on last year.

However, the Taoiseach has conceded the Government will need to build much more than 30-thousand homes a year.

In the Dáil, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says the Government will increase its housing targets in 2024:
