Galway Bay fm newsroom - Over 8,000 people are waiting more than a year for an outpatient appointment at Galway's public hospitals.
7,828 people were waiting more than 12 months to be called at UHG in April - almost double the figure for April 2016.
At Portiuncula hospital in Ballinasloe, 235 outpatients are waiting more than a year for an appointment.
Meanwhile, there are over 11,500 patients waiting for day case procedures at the two hospitals.
Galway Roscommon TD Eugene Murphy says public anger and distress over the situation is reaching boiling point.//ENDS//
