Connemara meeting describes regulations on community clean-up groups as prohibitive

Galway Bay fm newsroom- The regulations now in force for community groups who want to organise litter clean-ups are becoming prohibitive.

That was the message from several councillors at a meeting of Conamara Municipal District Council.

Mary McGann from the Community & Enterprise Department in the council says a tidy towns workshop was held and revealed that not all groups are aware of the procedure in terms of organising clean ups.

She told councillors that there is no problem with insurance but groups need a template to work off which could be distributed through the Public Participation Network.
