Galway Bay fm newsroom - The City Council has sanctioned almost 400 thousand euro in funding for arts groups across the city.
A detailed breakdown of the funding under the 2017 Arts Grants was revealed to councillors at this months sitting of the local authority.
The funding of 385 thousand euro allocated by the City Council is to divided among 92 city-based arts groups.
The lions share of the funding will go to the Galway International Arts Festival, which councillors agreed to fund to the tune of 46 thousand euro.
28 thousand euro has been earmarked for the Druid Theatre Company, while Macnas is to receive 24 thousand euro.
Other significant allocations include 23 thousand euro for Galway Music Residency, 19 thousand for Galway Arts Centre, 16 thousand for Galway Film Fleadh and 15,500 for Babaro Children's Arts Festival.
The smallest allocation was made to the Patrick Kavanagh Western Association, which received 200 euro - while 15 of the 92 groups who sought funding received nothing in this year's programme.
