These are just some of the topics being explored by Galway students at this year's BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.
Almost 40 Galway students from 11 schools are showcasing projects at the Young Scientist Exhibition from today.
The 22 projects from local schools vary across technology, social and behavioual sciences and chemical, physical and mathematical sciences.
The schools represented are Presentation College in Headford, Coláiste Naomh Eoin on Inis Meain, Colaiste Sheosaimh in Connemara, Scoil Bhríde in Tuam, St Brigids College in Loughrea, Glenamaddy Community School, Seamount College in Kinvara and city schools The Jes, Salerno, Coláiste Muire Máthair and Dominican College.
Around 1,100 students nationwide are involved in 550 projects at the annual exhibition.
President Michael D Higgins opened the in-person event at the RDS on Wednesday.
Following judging, the overall winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on Friday 13th January at 5:30pm
