Galway Bay fm newsroom - Over €350,000 in funding is being awarded to 36 heritage projects across Galway under this year's Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS).
Meanwhile, nationally, 556 heritage projects will benefit from a total of €4.5m.

The scheme assists owners of heritage structures to meet their obligations to care for their properties by providing match-funded grants of up to €15,000.
This year's BHIS, includes awards to a number of local historic structures including:
-Loretto, 132 Lower Salthill
-Poor Clares Convent, Nun's Island
-St.Nicolas Collegiate Church on Lombard Street
-Prospect House Athenry
-St. Patrick's Church, Glenamaddy, and Our Lady of the Wayside, Creeragh, Kylemore.
Meanwhile, Crumlin Park House Ballyglunin in Tuam has been included under this year's scheme for conservation repairs to eligible historic thatched structures with grants of up to €20,000.
Finally, Galway County Council has been awarded €115,634 for 11 thatched structures.
