Galway Bay fm newsroom - 300 thousand euro has been allocated towards development and repair works at three piers and harbours in Connemara.
The funding is part of a 2.8 million euro national programme of funding for projects being undertaken by local authorities.
Crumpán Pier near Maínis is to receive 112 thousand euro for slipway and pier infrastructure works - while Bealcarra Pier near Carna will receive the same funding for pier extension works.
A further 75 thousand euro has been allocated to Roundstone Pier to allow structural damage repairs to be carried out.

Galway West TD and Gaeltacht Minister Sean Kyne says the funding offers a much needed boost.
