300 people in Galway cease pandemic unemployment payment this week - compared to 1,500 last week

300 people in Galway have ceased their Pandemic Unemployment Payment this week.

It marks a significant decrease in the number of people returning to work in Galway - compared to last week when 1500 people closed their account.

There are now 12,100 people in Galway in receipt of the pandemic unemployment payment.

That’s down from 12,400 the week previous.

Nationally, 230,400 people are receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment this week - down 2,000 from last week.

Overall, numbers have dropped 61 per cent since its peak on May 5th.

In Galway, there’s been a 62 per cent drop since May 5th - when 32,300 people claimed the weekly payment.
