Galway Bay fm newsroom - Two researchers at NUI Galway have been awarded almost 3 million euro in funding to conduct ground breaking research in a range of sectors.
The funding has been allocated under the European Research Council's Starting Grants for research in the fields of Physical Sciences and Engineering, Life Sciences and Social Sciences and Humanities.
Dr. Ted Vaughan will investigate the mechanics of bone fragility in Type-2 Diabetes.
While Dr Ríona Nic Congáil has been awarded funding for her project on the roles and voices of youths in the study on minority and regional language preservation.
The grants are part of the 'excellent science' pillar of the EU's current Research and Innovation programme, Horizon 2020.
