There were 241 people registered as homeless across Galway during September.
The latest figures from the Department of Housing show nationally, almost 14,800 were homeless last month.
It's another record statistic for those in emergency accommodation.
Across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon, there are now 382 people registered as homeless - meaning Galway accounts for almost two thirds of the figure for the West.
Among them are 119 families, with 235 children.
Speaking ahead of the release of the figures, Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien insisted his department is working to prevent people from becoming homeless.
And Sinn Fein Galway West TD Mairead Farrell has challenged the Housing Minister on the Government's record on homelessness.
She said under their watch, a huge level of dysfunction is becoming normalised.
